Shosh

Arriving at the wedding hall, I asked the management to open the door to the Bridal Room.  One can only imagine my shock when I found the suite in total disrepair, i.e., no sink in the bathroom, wallpaper peeling from the walls, the chandelier sitting on a sofa, replaced by a light bulb suspended from a fraying wire.

What is this?" I asked. "I called last week and asked if there was a Bridal Room and I was told yes. How am I supposed to get a girl ready in this horrible space?"

The manager answered, "And we answered 'yes.'  You didn't ask about the condition.  Anyway, no one gets ready here.  We're in the middle of renovation.  Most of the girls prepare in the hotel across the street."

In a panic, I began scouring the hall for a suitable space in which to work.  It was to be a huge wedding group: bride, mom and five sisters/sisters-in-law. Hark!  The ladies room was clean and beautiful with marble-top sinks and individual mirrors.  I had just finished setting up my equipment when I noticed that there was no electrical outlet, either inside the bathroom or anywhere nearby in the hallway.  Grabbing a member of the maintenance staff by the sleeve, I shouted 'where is there an outlet?.'  He answered, "men's room."

So my new friend Ahmed helped me schlep all of the makeup and hair equipment to the men's room and, ignoring the gleaming white urinals that dwarfed half of the wall, I again set up shop.  Ahmed supplied me with an extra long extension cord and outlet extender and I was in business.

Imagine the shock of the arriving guests as, one by one, regally and beautifully coiffed angels began to exit the cordoned off men's room!

(The upshot of the entire tale is that the next two times I was hired to work at that particular hall, I made certain that the men's room was sparkling and waiting for me.  It is now, one of my favorite pre-party places to prepare a kallah for her special day!)
